I was trying to figure out about how much of a benefit it was for us to raise a pig. We got him sometime in late July. He was 2 months old when we brought him here to our farm. We kept him for only four months. We paid $125 for the pig. Then, only about $40 on feed for him. The rest of his food was in the form of scraps, apples from the trees, weeds, and natural rooting that he did on his own. He also killed 3 of our chickens. So, we are not really sure if that was a cost to us or not. lol!
The hams are quite large and I would pay at least $30 for just ONE of them. (more…)
