Fun with Apples

We quickly got into a routine with this.  For a few weeks, I was “having fun with apples” many times per week.  We would begin by filling the sink with water and Shaklee basic-H.  I would dunk the apples and rinse them, then set them on the counter on a towel.  The children would then pick up the apples from the counter and dry them and place them on the table on a towel.  One child would bowl up the apples and bring them to me.

Of course we took regular apple breaks.

I would chop and place into the processor as fast as I could, removing the cores and putting them aside for the pig.

I had applesauce cooking.  Then, I pureed it when it was hot.

And then there was the cider that I made.  That was great.  Aaron told me to get a juicer so that I could be more effective at juicing.  The old handheld juicer that we had was NOT cutting it for the amount of apples that we had.

AFter jarring the pureed apples, I stuck them in boiling water and voila! Lots of applesauce!

I also some of the cooked, but not pureed apples to make apple pies.  We were having apple pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a few weeks.

I can’t wait until the two trees remaining have ripe red apples.  I am eager to get to work making more delicious healthy apply goodies.
